Just in the blink of an eye, I'm already halfway through my college career. What?!
Well OK, I think I'm going to be just fine... *cue anxiety binge eating* alright kidding (maybe), but on a more serious note, it has been quite the biggest journey I've set foot on yet. As a dancer I've had the opportunity to explore my own artistry through growth and information passed on to me by my professors at UT, my ever-so wonderful ballet mentor Ms. Jennifer Felkner, Mark Morris summer intensive, ABT intensive as an RA last year, and extra classical ballet training during the Ballet West summer intensive as a resident Intern this past year (check out photos on my gallery!). But the bigger epiphany I've had as to date was my voluntary willingness to give in into the dance wholeheartedly. I'm not just talking about Ballet, I'm speaking about integrating all kinds of dance styles (even if I find them weird or odd) and bringing the best in me out through their movement, no questions asked. I think that's been the best decision I've made for myself to become a versatile dancer. As the former NYCB principal Wendy Whelan said "I can't be a ballerina my whole life. But a dancer, I can be a dancer my whole life." and I think this statement to be incoherently true to its core.
Above it all, I enter into this semester with hands, heart, soul, and mind open with a set of clear and (pretty ambitious) goals and mission that I've decided to set for myself. The desire and hunger to push past my own limits and break boundaries is insatiable. Slowly, I begin to understand what type of path I should take for my betterment and to give back in some way to the future little brown girls who want to pursue the same dream as I am doing. My story is for you all. I'm ready to change the world one dance step at a time.
"What starts here changes the world" (of course I'm going to include the saying \m/)

P.S. It's been a while since I last created posts on this blog so expect a lot more to come! (life gets in the way sometimes!)
